Buffalo Trace Owner Sazerac to Acquire U.K.-Based Au Vodka

Sazerac, the owner of Buffalo Trace, has announced the acquisition of U.K.-based ready-to-drink cocktail brand Au Vodka. This move further expands Sazerac’s presence in the U.K., which it considers an important market. The deal is set to be finalized in the coming weeks.

“Sazerac is committed to growing its business by investing in brands and expanding its portfolio globally to better connect with consumers,” stated Sazerac.

Au Vodka, founded in 2015 by Charlie Morgan and Jackson Quinn, is a popular canned vodka brand in the U.K. The brand gained attention after YouTuber Jake Paul showcased a tattoo of the brand. Au Vodka made its debut in the U.S. in 2022, selling 50,000 bottles in the first week. The brand is currently available online in 35 states and in stores in eight.

The BBC reported that Au Vodka is looking to expand further in the U.S., and a partnership with Sazerac could help achieve those goals.

Au Vodka is known for its gold packaging and offers flavor-infused spirits and canned cocktails in various flavors such as red cherry, blue raspberry, and peach.

Sazerac has been active in acquiring ready-to-drink cocktail brands, with recent acquisitions including Dirty Shirley and a stake in Sipmargs. The company has also introduced three new canned cocktails this summer to enhance its RTD portfolio.
