Lindt & Sprüngli CEO Adalbert Lechner Ousted
Lindt & Sprüngli, the premium chocolate giant, has removed CEO Adalbert Lechner as part of its turnaround strategy. Dieter Weisskopf, former CEO and current vice-chairman of the board, will serve as interim CEO until a permanent successor is appointed in the second quarter of 2027.
The company’s board decided that new leadership is necessary to drive consistent growth and seize global market opportunities. Lindt & Sprüngli has also implemented leadership changes in Germany and Austria to address recent challenges.
Struggles and Changes Ahead
In recent years, Lindt & Sprüngli has faced challenges such as consumer spending reductions and escalating cocoa prices. The company has revised its financial outlook twice this year, prompting the board to take action. Weisskopf expressed his commitment to investing in the company’s brands and improving profitability during his temporary tenure.
The company recently adjusted its sales growth guidance for 2026 due to lower order volumes in key markets. Organic sales growth is now projected to be flat to 2%, down from the initial target of 6% to 8%.
