PepsiCo Enhances Focus on Soft Drinks
PepsiCo is prioritizing the improvement of its soft drink business, according to CEO Ramon Laguarta. In a recent earnings call, Laguarta expressed concern over the performance of the company’s soda segment, noting a 2% decline in North American beverage volumes during the quarter. Despite growth in energy and hydration categories, PepsiCo recognizes the need to strengthen its presence in the soft drink market.
To address this challenge, PepsiCo plans to increase investment in key brands such as Pepsi, Poppi, and Mountain Dew. Laguarta highlighted the importance of enhancing execution through internal teams and bottling partners to drive growth in the soft drink category.
As part of its strategy, PepsiCo aims to implement cost-saving measures across the business while exploring opportunities to introduce new products and capitalize on emerging trends. The company recently unveiled plans to launch Poppi Lift, an energy-boosting drink with caffeine, Vitamin B3, and electrolytes. Additionally, PepsiCo is set to introduce innovative flavors like Pepsi Strawberry Shortcake and Mountain Dew Baja Blast Berry Sol to appeal to consumers.
PepsiCo’s commitment to innovation extends to its hydration portfolio, with the upcoming launch of Gatorlyte Longer Lasting in 2027. This product boasts the highest electrolyte content in the Gatorade lineup, reflecting PepsiCo’s dedication to meeting consumer needs in the beverage market.
