Sara Lee owner Bimbo Bakeries USA is moving its headquarters from Horsham, Pennsylvania to the Dallas area to drive growth.

Dallas is a key market for Bimbo, with several bakeries, sales centers, and distribution facilities in the region. The relocation to Irving, Texas will provide a more centralized location in the U.S. and closer proximity to Grupo Bimbo’s global office in Mexico City.

“Moving our headquarters to Dallas will enhance our operational efficiency as we invest in our brands and communities,” said Greg Koehrsen, president of Bimbo USA.

Texas has been significant for Bimbo since 1998 when Grupo Bimbo acquired Texas-based Mrs. Baird’s Bakery. Their U.S. portfolio now includes popular brands like Ball Park, Entenmann’s, and Thomas’.

While rare, companies do relocate headquarters – Nestlé USA to Northern Virginia for proximity to policymakers, regulators, and lobbyists, and Conagra Brands to Chicago to attract talent.
