BOSTON – Dr Pepper Leading the Way in KDP’s Portfolio

With approximately $6 billion in annual sales, Dr Pepper stands out as the largest brand in Keurig Dr Pepper Inc.’s (KDP) lineup. According to Beverage Digest, two years ago, the brand claimed the spot as the second largest carbonated soft drink brand in the United States. KDP is now focused on maintaining this position and applying successful strategies to other brands within its portfolio.

During a presentation at the Barclays Global Consumer Staples Conference on September 10, Timothy Cofer, CEO of KDP, highlighted Dr Pepper’s success, stating, “(Dr Pepper is) the No. 1 brand … among teens today,” and expressing confidence in the brand’s future growth. Cofer also mentioned that the company is on track for its tenth consecutive year of market share growth with Dr Pepper.

Recent innovations such as Dr Pepper Zero Sugar, Dr Pepper Creamy Coconut, and Dr Pepper Blackberry have contributed to the brand’s growth. Cofer noted that Dr Pepper Zero Sugar has become the second largest zero sugar brand in the market, surpassing $1 billion in retail sales.

KDP is positioning Dr Pepper as a unique and one-of-a-kind brand from a marketing perspective. Cofer emphasized the brand’s distinctive positioning and strong marketing efforts, aiming for precision and personalization.

KDP is now applying successful strategies from Dr Pepper to other brands in its Refreshment Beverages portfolio, such as Canada Dry and 7Up. Cofer highlighted Canada Dry’s billion-dollar-plus brand status and its distinctive positioning in the ginger ale market. Innovation like Canada Dry Fruit Splash has proven to be highly incremental to the base business.

Overall, KDP is focused on leveraging the success of Dr Pepper to drive growth and innovation across its entire portfolio of brands.
