B&G Foods Announces New CEO
B&G Foods, the maker of Ortega products, has announced the hiring of a new CEO. Current CEO Casey Keller is set to step down from his position on Friday, after serving in the role since June 2021.
The identity of the new CEO has not been disclosed at the individual’s request, but B&G Foods has revealed that the person currently holds a senior leadership position at another public company. The company plans to announce the new CEO’s name shortly.
Under Keller’s leadership, B&G Foods has undergone significant changes, including streamlining its portfolio by divesting noncore assets, focusing on key products, and reducing debt. Keller will continue to support the company during the leadership transition.
B&G Foods’ Strategic Shift
Previously known for its acquisitions, B&G Foods has shifted its focus to divestitures under Keller’s tenure. Since May 2025, the company has sold off various assets, including the Green Giant vegetable business and two tomato lines, as well as the Le Sueur brand of premium vegetables.
Despite this focus on divestitures, B&G Foods remains open to strategic acquisitions. Earlier this year, the company acquired the College Inn and Kitchen Basics brands from Del Monte Foods for $110 million.
Keller expressed confidence in the company’s future, stating, “We have begun to reshape our portfolio through our recent divestiture and acquisition activity, and I believe the dedicated team at B&G Foods will lead the company towards success.”
Challenges and Opportunities
While the new CEO’s identity and background remain undisclosed, the fact that the individual comes from a publicly traded company suggests they are equipped to navigate the demands of Wall Street and shareholders.
The incoming CEO joins B&G Foods at a challenging time for the company and the food industry as a whole, with consumers moving away from processed foods and tightening their spending due to inflation. In its recent quarter, B&G Foods reported a 3.9% decline in net sales to $409 million compared to the previous year.
