Plant-based brand Caulipower has been acquired by private equity firm Paine Schwartz Partners.

Caulipower, known for its cauliflower-crust pizzas and other cauliflower-based products, will now be under Paine Schwartz’s Urban Farmer brand, which specializes in specialty dough products. The financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Paine Schwartz plans to leverage Urban Farmer’s manufacturing capabilities with Caulipower’s nationwide distribution network and product innovation. This collaboration will enable Urban Farmer to reach a wider consumer base with a range of frozen products that cater to different dietary preferences.

“CAULIPOWER has redefined comfort food for many consumers,” commented Chris Jaromin, CEO of Urban Farmer. “The shared vision of making healthier food options both accessible and delicious makes this partnership with CAULIPOWER a perfect fit for Urban Farmer. Together, we aim to bring nutritious and indulgent foods to more households nationwide.”

Caulipower, founded in 2016 by Gail Becker, will retain its brand identity. The company’s journey began when Becker’s sons were diagnosed with Celiac disease and could no longer enjoy traditional pizza. In response, Caulipower introduced its cauliflower crust pizza, which quickly became a bestseller in the gluten-free category and expanded to include other frozen products.

Last year, Caulipower appointed former PepsiCo executive Tyler Ricks as CEO to lead the company through a period of growth. With the launch of new products, Caulipower reported over $120 million in annual sales, showcasing its commitment to innovation and meeting consumer demands.
