AB InBev’s Anheuser-Busch is investing $16 million in expanding its Los Angeles brewery to enhance its production of “beyond beer” beverages like Cutwater and Nütrl vodka seltzer. The company also plans to improve its capacity for 25-ounce cans to meet increasing consumer demand.
The brewery will undergo facility upgrades to focus on water conservation and reducing emissions, aligning with sustainability goals.
Eric Gutierrez, the general manager of the Los Angeles brewery, expressed excitement about the investments, stating, “These upgrades position us to lead in brewing excellence and innovate to meet consumer preferences.”
Established in 1954, the Los Angeles brewery is one of 14 Anheuser-Busch facilities in California.
As AB InBev adapts to changes in the alcohol industry, strategic decisions are being made regarding manufacturing capabilities. The recent announcement of the closure of the Anheuser-Busch plant in Medford, Massachusetts reflects this shift.
AB InBev’s focus on ready-to-drink products like Cutwater and Nütrl indicates a growing market segment. CEO Michel Doukeris highlighted the significant volume growth of canned cocktails, offsetting declines in beer sales. Data shows that these products are often consumed alongside spirits and wine rather than beer.
