Pure Leaf puts mental clarity in focus with new functional tea

by amazonskylers

Pure Leaf, known for its high-quality tea, is venturing into the functional beverage market with its latest offering – a sparkling drink designed to enhance focus. This move comes as consumers increasingly seek out beverages that provide both physical and mental benefits. Mental Focus, the new sparkling iced tea, combines naturally occurring caffeine from black tea with L-theanine, an amino acid known for its focus-enhancing properties.

Zach Harris, the general manager of the Pepsi Lipton Partnership in North America, explained that the brand’s expansion into functional beverages aligns with its core values. By capping the caffeine content at 69 milligrams, Mental Focus sets itself apart from highly caffeinated energy drinks, catering to consumers looking for a more balanced and approachable option in the energy and cognitive function space.

In line with the brand’s commitment to simplicity, Mental Focus contains zero sugar and no calories, making it a guilt-free choice for everyday use. The beverage, available in peach and raspberry flavors, marks Pure Leaf’s first foray into the sparkling drink category.

With a strong emphasis on tea as a key ingredient, Pure Leaf leverages its tea-forward brand identity to introduce functional benefits rooted in tradition. By incorporating L-theanine and natural caffeine from tea leaves, the brand stays true to its origins while offering a refreshing and functional beverage option.

The Pepsi Lipton Tea partnership, a collaboration between PepsiCo and Unilever, has been instrumental in driving innovation within the Pure Leaf brand. In addition to Mental Focus, the partnership introduced a zero sugar sweet tea variant in 2024, further expanding the brand’s portfolio of health-conscious beverages.
