Wayne-Sanderson Farms, the third largest poultry producer in the United States, has announced the appointment of a new CEO who will succeed current chief executive Clint Rivers upon his retirement next spring. Kevin McDaniel, the current COO, will assume the role of CEO on April 1, 2025, while Rivers will continue as executive chairman of the board for the 2026 fiscal year.
In a statement, Rivers expressed confidence in McDaniel, stating, “Having worked closely with Kevin over the last several years, I am confident that he is the perfect choice to lead Wayne-Sanderson Farms into this next chapter. He brings a wealth of experience and vision to the role, and I look forward to supporting him through this transition.”
McDaniel’s background includes serving as president of poultry breeding company Aviagen and holding various roles at Pilgrim’s Pride and OK Foods. He currently sits on the board of directors for the National Chicken Council and U.S. Poultry & Egg Association.
Expressing his excitement for the future of the organization, McDaniel said, “I am excited for the bright future ahead for our organization, as we strive to achieve our vision of being the amazing poultry company, recognized as the partner of choice by our customers, coworkers, farmers, and communities.”
Rivers, who oversaw the merger of Wayne Farms and Sanderson Farms in 2022 under the joint ownership of Cargill and Continental Grain, will be retiring after serving as CEO of Wayne Farms since 2012. Reflecting on his time with Wayne-Sanderson Farms, Rivers expressed gratitude for the journey and the accomplishments achieved with the talented and dedicated team over the last 12 years.
