Campbell’s Announces New CEO

The Campbell’s Company has announced that Mick Beekhuizen will be taking over as president and CEO on Feb. 1, 2025, succeeding Mark Clouse. Beekhuizen, who joined Campbell’s in 2019 as CFO and has been leading the meals and beverages division since 2022, will be the 15th CEO in the company’s history.

Clouse, the outgoing CEO, is leaving to join the NFL’s Washington Commanders as president.

Leadership Change at Campbell’s

The unexpected change in leadership at Campbell’s will see Beekhuizen, an experienced CPG executive, stepping into the CEO role. Beekhuizen has been instrumental in leading the company’s meals and beverages division, overseeing brands like Prego, Pacific, Swanson, V8, and Campbell’s soup.

Under Beekhuizen’s leadership, Campbell’s recently completed the integration of Rao’s sauces maker Sovos Brands, a move aimed at accelerating growth and expanding into premium products.

Campbell’s chairman, Keith McLoughlin, expressed confidence in Beekhuizen’s ability to drive the company’s strategy forward and create value for shareholders.

Challenges Ahead

Beekhuizen will be taking the helm at a time when food and beverage companies are facing challenges due to a cash-strapped consumer and inflation. Despite posting strong net sales in the first quarter, Campbell’s organic net sales saw a slight decline.

Analysts believe Beekhuizen is well-equipped to lead Campbell’s, but will face a different set of challenges compared to his predecessor. These challenges include navigating consumer preferences, inflation, and uncertainties surrounding initiatives like Make America Healthy Again.

Clouse’s Legacy

Mark Clouse, who has been with Campbell’s since 2019, leaves behind a legacy of reshaping the company’s portfolio and driving growth. Clouse played a key role in the acquisition of Sovos Brands and the rebranding of the company to better reflect its diverse product offerings.
