New Leadership at Mondelēz International:

  • Food giant Mondelēz International has announced the appointment of Filippo Catalano as their new chief information and digital officer. According to the company’s statement, Catalano will be joining later this year and will report directly to Chair and CEO Dirk Van de Put.
  • Previously, Catalano held the position of chief information and digitisation officer at Reckitt and global CIO at Nestlé. His expertise in technology platform transformation within the food industry is expected to bring valuable insights to Mondelēz International.
  • Javier Polit, the outgoing CIO at Mondelēz International, has moved on to become the chief information and digital officer at Costco. Polit’s tenure at Mondelēz International began in 2020.

Insights into the Tech Leadership Shift:

Mondelēz’s recent appointment reflects a trend among businesses this summer to enhance their tech leadership teams. Companies like Gap, PayPal, Citi, and Little Caesars have all made significant changes to adapt to the evolving technology landscape.

The midyear leadership shuffle is attributed to fiscal year timelines and the rapid pace of technological advancements over the past year and a half.

When selecting new digital leaders, organizations prioritize individuals with a proven track record in their respective industries. Catalano’s extensive experience at Procter & Gamble, Reckitt, and Nestlé positions him as a strategic leader for Mondelēz International’s digital transformation.

“Filippo’s expertise in driving digital innovation within consumer packaged goods companies will play a vital role in advancing our digital strategy,” remarked Van de Put.

Javier Polit, following his role at Procter & Gamble, now contributes his insights as the chief information and digital officer at Costco.
