Coca-Cola Discontinuing Minute Maid Frozen Canned Juices After 80 Years

Consumer demand for Minute Maid’s frozen canned orange juices and lemonades has led Coca-Cola to announce the discontinuation of these products after 80 years on the market. The decision comes as the juice category evolves and consumer preferences shift.

The frozen products will be phased out in North America by the first quarter of 2026, with remaining inventory available while supplies last. Minute Maid offered a variety of frozen concentrated cans, including flavors like raspberry lemonade, pink lemonade, and limeade.

“With the juice category growing strongly, we’re focusing on products that better align with what our consumers are looking for,” a Coca-Cola spokesperson explained.

In the 1950s and 1960s, Minute Maid’s frozen concentrates revolutionized how Americans enjoyed their morning orange juice. The product provided a convenient way to enjoy orange juice year-round, establishing the brand as a pioneer in the emerging frozen food industry.

However, as pasteurization processes advanced, ready-to-drink juices became more popular, leading to a decline in demand for frozen concentrates. By the 2010s, frozen concentrate products represented just 7% of the overall orange juice market.

Today, Minute Maid continues to offer a range of fruit drinks, including orange juice, lemonade, and sugar-free options. The brand has also expanded into the alcohol category to meet the growing demand for hard lemonades and iced teas.

While Coca-Cola’s juice business has seen recent success, driven in part by the popularity of Minute Maid’s sugar-free variety in North America, the broader juice industry is facing challenges as consumers increasingly opt for functional beverages over traditional juices.
