The expansion projects at the Walton and Buffalo plants will involve acquiring new equipment and implementing upgrades to improve efficiency and drive innovation. These expansions are expected to result in the creation of over 50 new jobs, according to the dairy manufacturer.
The Buffalo facility specializes in producing ricotta, mozzarella, provolone under the Galbani brand, and whey powder. On the other hand, the Walton location focuses on the production of Breakstone’s sour cream, contributing significantly to the growth of the company’s cottage cheese segment. Together, these facilities process more than 800 million pounds of raw milk annually.
“These expansions are crucial for the growth of our operations in the United States,” stated Esteve Torrens, CEO of Lactalis USA.
Lactalis USA, a subsidiary of the French dairy company, is renowned for its Président cheese and Parmalat milk brand. The company has broadened its product portfolio through acquisitions of brands like Stonyfield, Siggi’s, natural cheese brands from Kraft Heinz, and General Mills’ U.S. yogurt business.
To meet the surging demand for its dairy products, Lactalis has been making significant investments in expanding its production capacity. In a recent announcement, the company revealed plans to invest $55 million in its Tulare, California facility to ramp up production of Président Feta cheese products.
