Keeping Up with Changing Trends
General Mills’ iconic Cheerios brand, which has evolved over its 83-year history, continues to innovate to stay relevant in the market.
Emilie Knox, Vice President of Morning Foods at General Mills, emphasizes the importance of starting the day with an adequate protein intake. Cheerios Protein offers a familiar and delicious option for families seeking nutrition and convenience.
In addition to Cheerios Protein, General Mills has introduced other protein-rich products this year, such as Wheaties Protein and Ghost protein cereal. These offerings provide between 18 to 22 grams of protein per serving.
Competitors in the cereal industry are also adapting to meet the demand for protein-rich options. Kellogg Co recently launched Eat Your Mouth Off, a high-protein puffed cereal sweetened with stevia for Gen Z consumers.
General Mills’ commitment to protein extends beyond cereals, with the introduction of Yoplait Protein yogurt and Annie’s Super Mac. These products offer a substantial protein content to compete with healthier alternatives like Greek yogurt and skyr.
