PIN Spicy Spicy Baked Shrimp to save for later!
Even on warmer days, I’m always excited to turn on the oven for this Spicy Baked Shrimp recipe that is packed with a variety of enticing flavors. This quick and easy dinner can even be whipped up on a busy work night without any hassle!
I love the hint of lemony flavor from Ground Sumac, which I incorporated into the garlic, red pepper, and olive oil mixture that I tossed the shrimp in before baking. However, if you don’t have Sumac, this dish will still be incredibly delicious without it. During recipe testing, I made this twice in one week, and both times the shrimp disappeared in no time; I hope you enjoy!

What ingredients add flavor to the Spicy Baked Shrimp?

How spicy is this baked shrimp recipe?
Despite the word “spicy” in the title and the red pepper in the ingredient list, this shrimp can be mildly spicy by adjusting the amount of red pepper used. Serving it with a creamy sauce can also help cool down the spice level. We used Aleppo Pepper to add a touch of spicy flavor, but feel free to use any type of red pepper flakes if Aleppo Pepper is not available.
How low in carbs is the Spicy Baked Shrimp?
This delectable baked shrimp, which cooks in minutes, has only about 2.6 net carbs per serving!
Be careful not to overcook the baked shrimp!
Shrimp is always delicious and easy to cook, but it’s crucial not to overcook it. Shrimp is best when cooked until just barely done. So, be cautious not to bake the shrimp for more than the recommended 6-8 minutes. Take the size of your shrimp into account; smaller shrimp will require even less time, while larger ones may need an extra minute or two.
What other sauce could you serve with baked shrimp?
The shrimp pairs wonderfully with the Sour Cream Tahini Sauce included in the recipe, but it would also be delightful with any of the following:

How to Make Spicy Baked Shrimp:
(This is just a summary of the recipe steps; please scroll down for the complete printable recipe. Alternatively, use the JUMP TO RECIPE link at the top of the page to go directly to the complete recipe.)
- Thaw the shrimp overnight in the refrigerator, then drain them well in a colander.
- I used raw jumbo shrimp at 16-20 per pound the first time and large raw shrimp at 21-25 per pound the second time, and both turned out great.
- Place a paper towel on a cutting board, spread out the shrimp, and pat dry with another paper towel.
- Whisk together the crushed garlic, Aleppo Pepper, and olive oil. I also added some ground Sumac, which was delicious, but it’s optional.
- Toss the shrimp in a bowl with the olive oil and spice mixture.
- Spread the shrimp out on a large baking sheet that has been sprayed with non-stick spray.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 400F/200C for about 6-8 minutes, or until the shrimp are pink and firm but not tough.
- Smaller shrimp will require slightly less time, while jumbo shrimp may need a minute or two longer. Be careful not to overcook!
- Serve the Spicy Baked Shrimp hot and enjoy!
